Take a peak of the first DSA IV destination at work!

On June 1, Northampton-based Samuel Rowlett and 15 local high school students started to work at “TEENSPACE” a project of Kidspace and MASS MoCA in downtown North Adams.

Among a series of projects, TEENSPACE is an opportunity for Kidspace @ MASS MoCA to continue to work with the community and with artists. “We are excited to bring Samuel Rowlett to local teens, who are collaborating to create drawings and other artwork that I think will prove to be a great demonstration of the impressive creativity of the teens in the North Berkshires!.” Laura Thompson, Director of Kidspace, said.

During the next three weeks, till the kick-off of DownStreet Art on June 23, the artist and the students will work in the former Artery Lounge at 26 Holden Street to re-imagine the space with wall drawings and sculptures. This site-specific project will evolve over the course of DSA as the artist and students participate in collaborative workshops where mutual feedback and critique help to shape the work into a more encompassing experience for both the teenagers, artists and viewers alike.
