After Legacy Gallery, now The Artery, XMALIA, Sheer Madness Gallery, and Grass Gallery are closing their doors.

Dozens of artists were asked to interact with the empty storefronts of North Adams embracing the city as both a canvas and vessel. The resulting festival has been making a large impact from its empty space on Main, Holden and Eagle Street thanks to a series of art exhibitions, performances, classes and workshops.

DownStreet Art collaborations often extend beyond gallery spaces, establishing themselves as active members of the art community in downtown North Adams and beyond. The mission of DownStreet Art continues to be “filling a hole in the downtown community,” and the idea of community figures centrally into the art scene, in a wide variety of contexts of channels.
