A Mermaid and Three Heads of Cabbage

There will be an opening reception at Gallery 107 August 28 from 6-9PM and a closing reception on September 25 from 6-9PM.
Gallery 107 announces “A Mermaid and Three Heads of Cabbage” A Group exhibition of students from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, a low residency graduate school for the arts in Montpelier, Vermont. The artists are Douglas Brull, Lisa Crafts, Julia Dixon, Ruth Dudley-Carr, Joseph Keenan, Robert McCann, Kimberly Marshall, Naomi Elena Ramirez, Mark Read, Lorraine Reynolds, Aaron Rose, Kristin Serafini, Andrea Taylor, Mary Telferand Margery Theroux. The Exhibition will be on display beginning August 28 and running through September 28.
An opening reception for “A Mermaid and Three Heads of Cabbage” which is curated by Julia Dixon, is scheduled for Thursday, August 28, from 6-9PM.
All 15 artists will be included; as a result, the work will be selected based on quality. The work will focus conceptually on four key themes: Identity and sexuality, nature and environmental impact, objects and their changing narratives, and public engagement and social practice.
All of the artists are a part of VCFA’s Model; one of the first low-residency programs in the country, supports artists at any stage by offering a transformative and progressive educational experience through its acclaimed MFA programs and Unique artist student mentoring opportunities.
A Closing reception for “A Mermaid and Three Heads of Cabbage” will be held on September 25, 2014 from 6-9PM.
