Phoenix Rising

Berkshire Eagle Gallery Window

Opening August 28

What’s old is new again.

In her latest exhibition at the Berkshire Eagle Window Gallery, artist Jennifer Huberdeau brings new works to life from previous works.

“Phoenix Rising,” a series of new paintings, will debut int the windows of the Berkshire Eagle’s North County office, 85 Main Street, on Thursday, August, with an opening reception from 6-8PM.

“It isn’t unusual for an artist to reuse the materials at hand; creating new works on top of old ones,” Huberdeau said. “When I set out to create a body of work for DownStreet Art, I had no idea what it was going to look like. When I reuse canvases, I typically just white them out. This time I decided to strip the old paint from them. What I found during this process was inspirational. In some cases, dozens of layers of paint were scraped and reconfigured.”

Once the deconstruction of each canvas was complete, she set out to rebuild each one into a new painting.
